Our first EU Project -  'SUSTaiN'

We thrilled to announce our participation in the winning consortium for our very first European Union project, SUSTaiN. This prestigious project, led by Fagskolen Rogaland in Norway, marks a significant milestone in our journey to enhance vocational education and training (VET) across Europe.

The SUSTaiN project is an innovative initiative designed to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) education with a focus on sustainability across critical sectors such as Agriculture, Energy, Water Management, and Transport. Our shared goal is to equip both educators and students in the VET sector with the necessary skills and knowledge to apply AI technologies, ensuring these applications are in harmony with environmental sustainability objectives. This forward-thinking approach will prepare the next generation of professionals to implement AI solutions that support global sustainability goals.

Key Project Activities

As part of the SUSTaiN project, Gairmeach Training, alongside our consortium partners, will be involved in several exciting work packages:

• Development of Sustainable AI Case Studies and StarterKit: This will include the creation of AI-focused educational materials tailored to sustainability, providing VET educators with the resources they need to integrate AI into their curricula effectively.
• Creation of an Innovative AI Training Programme: We will contribute to the development of flexible, interactive open educational resources (OERs) that make AI education accessible and engaging for students.
• Initiation of AI for Sustainability Hackathons: These immersive events will offer students and educators hands-on experience in applying AI to solve real-world sustainability challenges, fostering collaboration and innovation.
• Engagement in Sharing & Sustainability: Our role will also involve leveraging our networks to disseminate the project’s outcomes, ensuring that the knowledge and resources developed reach a wide audience across the VET sector and beyond.

Anticipated Impact

The SUSTaiN project is set to make a significant impact on vocational education across Europe. We expect that at least 60 VET educators will use the AI StarterKit to gain awareness and understanding of AI applications in their teaching. Furthermore, the innovative training programme is anticipated to reach at least 90 VET students and 30 VET educators, enhancing their competencies in AI for sustainability.

The hackathons will see collaboration between at least 90 VET students, 30 educators, and 15 industry stakeholders, all working together to address real-world sustainability challenges using AI solutions. In addition, our sharing strategy aims to reach over 1,000 VET and industry stakeholders, who will benefit from the resources and results generated by the project.
